Archaometry is the scientific study of ancient artifacts and materials to aid archaeologists in establishing human cultural history. To help determine how, when, where, by whom and for what purpose various artifacts were made, archaeologists call on scientists from a wide range of fields.

The Archaeometry Research Center (ARC) supports both basic and applied interdisciplinary research projects into man-environment-materials development throughout the course of history.

The Center organizes cultural and educational activities to emphasize the importance of our heritage and man-environment interactions to the public. This goal is achieved through the Center's publications, seminars, exhibits and related activities. The Center also produces audio-visual materials and offers courses in archaeometry and related fields.

The Center's facilities are available to archaeologists, museums and the like to assist them in archaeometric techniques such as laboratory analysis and conservation, dating, field work, geophysical surveys and training personnel.
