The Language Center facilitates both theoretical and applied inter-disciplinary research projects on language and provides the necessary academic coordination between these disciplines. The Center provides a wide range of linguistic data in the form of audio-visual materials on various languages represented in Turkey, among them chiefly Caucasian languages and various Turkic languages. This data pool is continually increased and made accessible to researchers. The Center organizes academic and educational activities to enhance a better understanding of our linguistic heritage. This goal is achieved through the Center's publications, seminars, conferences and related activities. The Center also organizes language courses in Turkish, Russian and Japanese. The Turkish Language and Culture Program, organized annually in the summer, is an accredited intensive language program which offers instruction at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. Semi-intensive Turkish as well as Russian and Japanese courses are offered during the academic year. The Center's facilities are available to linguists, other language research centers, institutes of higher education and the like to assist them in having access to linguistic data, to provide them with the necessary academic setting to carry out research projects and do field work.
