EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND APPLICATION CENTER

The center for Educational Technology is a multi-purpose research, development and application center aimed at developing and administering educational material involving technology. Its fields of activity consist of developing material involving audiovisual communication, computers, networks and other interactive media, generating know-how, infrastructure for preparing and administering course materials, carrying out research and development involving present and emerging technology, and carrying out related educational activities. It seeks to provide the University with advice and service on the use of up to date technology in learning, organize sites and projects where such educational activity can be carried out. Its activities also include giving support in these areas to external organizations.

The center contains a visual communication laboratory, service laboratory, presentation room, research and evaluation unit. Design of classroom sites for carrying out education involving audio visual and computer facilities and development of related course material is in progress.

The purpose of the Financial Aid Office is to determine the students'needs for scholarships and to find resources in order to meet those needs.

PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE

The Public Relations Office was founded in 1973 to facilitate communication among students, faculty, administration, alumni and the press.

OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The International Relations Office of Bogazici University provides information and services to students and visiting faculty from other countries and to BU students and faculty going abroad for study, research or teaching on reciprocal exchanges with foreign universities in the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East, for either one semester or an entire academic year. Mutual student excahnge agreements ordinarily stipulate that students are responsible for housing, travel, and subsistence costs. The purpose of these programs is to enrich and broaden the participants' intellectual, cultural and personal experiences. Host universities grant tuition and service fee waivers for exchange students. Upon completion of study abroad, exchange students return to their home university to complete their studies without any loss of time.

STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE

The Student Affairs Office is responsible for matters concerning student accommodation, financial aid, social activities, psychological counseling service and athletic activities.

Students who need financial aid can be given annual assistance.

Bogazici University provides extracurricular activity clubs for students to develop and improve their talents. All students are eligible for membership in the clubs of their choice. The Student Affairs Office provides other services such as mailing, identity cards, transportation cards (IETT) and lost property.

BOGAZICI UNIVERSITY STUDENT GUIDANCE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH AND SERVICE CENTER

This student service center, affiliated with the University's Rectorate, was established in November 17, 1993. It has a director, two full time and two part time counseling psychologist and one research assistant. This staff renders developmental, preventive and remedial service all year round, every week day between 9:00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. hours.

The aim of the Center is to help students actualize and enrich their social, emotional and vocational potential as well as help them develop their coping skills for dealing with daily stresses and problems.

The three working principles of the Center are privacy-confidentiality, security and respect for individual rights.

The Center tries to achieve its aim through three major programs: Orientation (a two day program for new students, held every September), Guidance (educational and developmental group work), Psychological Counseling (group and individual counseling to help relieve tension and develop coping skills).

The Center perceives the academic departments and dormitories as the two main sources of cooperation in reaching and helping students.
